Hannah Katzir

Hannah Katzir, a 77-year-old Israeli woman, was kidnapped during an attack on Kibbutz Nir Oz on October 7, during which her husband, Rami, was tragically murdered. Contrary to claims by the terrorist organization Palestinian Islamic Jihad that Katzir had died, she was successfully freed as part of a hostage-prisoner swap deal between Hamas and Israel.

Hannah's story is marked by tragedy and resilience. The false announcement of her death by the Palestinian Islamic Jihad added to the anguish and uncertainty faced by her family and friends during her captivity. Upon her release, she was confronted with the heartbreaking news of her husband's murder and her son Elad's abduction into Gaza, information that was withheld from her in captivity.

Hannah is described as a woman of great compassion, known for her big heart and her years of service as a caretaker in her kibbutz. She is a mother to three children and has six grandchildren, with whom she shares a close bond.
