Adina Moshe

Adina Moshe, a 72-year-old Israeli, endured a harrowing 49 days of captivity under Hamas following the murder of her husband by the group on October 7. Her ordeal began when she was abducted and taken to Gaza, where she was confined underground, exposed to light for only two hours a day. The conditions of her captivity were dire, as she navigated through muddy tunnels, struggled with high humidity, and was held in a room with other hostages, surviving on a minimal diet of rice and pita bread. According to Adina, when Hamas led her from the tunnel on Nov. 24, she didn’t know if she was being transferred, executed or released until she saw the Red Cross.
During the terrorist attack, Adina was subjected to the horror of witnessing the murder of her husband within the confines of their safe room. The assailants shot Said David Moshe, leaving behind a scene marked by bullet holes and blood. In a desperate attempt to seek help, Adina was found to have been texting for assistance on how to stop her husband's bleeding, highlighting the immediate chaos and desperation of the situation.
The resilience of the Moshe family was further tested during the attack as Amos, Adina and Said David Moshe's son, faced the militants' attempt to invade his safe room, where he and his family sought refuge. Despite the militants setting the house on fire, Amos heroically held the door against their attempts to break in, suffering burns in the process. It was only after the army's intervention, seven hours later, that Amos and his family were rescued, only for him to learn about the devastating outcomes for his parents.
