Ofri Brodetz
Freed November 26, 2023

Hagar Brodetz, 40, and her children, Ofri, 10, Yuval, 9, and Oriya, 4, were abducted by Hamas terrorists from their home in Kfar Aza during the terrorist attack on October 7. The family's capture and subsequent 50-day captivity unfolded as Avihai Brodetz, the husband and father, was engaged in defending the kibbutz. Upon returning home, Avihai was initially struck by the belief that his family had perished, only to later learn from the kibbutz community that they were alive but had been taken by the terrorists along with Abigail Edan, a three-year-old girl who fled to the neighboring Brodetz home after her parents were murdered.
In Gaza, Hagar's captors cruelly told her that Avihai was dead.
The family's release on November 26 marked a poignant moment of reunion with Avichai and their family dog, Rodney. Avichai, who had sustained injuries during the attack, described the reunion as miraculous, having lived through the despair of thinking he had lost his family to the tragedy.
