Freed November 30, 2023

A nurse at Soroka Hospital, Nili found herself in the midst of a nightmare when Hamas terrorists invaded her home of Kibbutz Nir Oz on October 7th, resulting in the death and abduction of a significant portion of the kibbutz's population.
Margalit's ordeal began in her safe room, where she took refuge with her dog as the terrorists roamed the area. Her last communication, a text message to friends at 9:12am. Her home was found destoyed by fire.
In captivity in Gaza, Margalit's inherent compassion and professional skills as a nurse shone through. Reports from Yocheved Lifshitz, a former hostage released earlier, revealed that Nili continued to care for others.
The international medical community rallied in solidarity, with professionals worldwide photographed holding signs calling for Margalit's release, highlighting the global concern for her wellbeing and the broader group of hostages.
Margalit's release on November 30, 2023, as part of an extension of a temporary ceasefire, brought relief and joy to her friends, family, and supporters. Sadly, the next day brought confirmation of her father Eliyahu Margalit's death, with his body still in Gaza.
