Gabriela Leimberg, alongside her daughter Mia and sister Clara Marman, endured a harrowing experience of captivity following their abduction by Hamas during the terror group's attack on October 7. The family, part of an extended group that sought refuge in a sealed room of their home in Kibbutz Nir Yitzhak near the Gaza border, found themselves amidst a nightmare scenario as the terrorists invaded their sanctuary.
Gabriela, the director of Eyal’s Farm at Kibbutz Ramat Rachel, is known for her dedicated work with autistic adults, a testament to her warm and caring nature. Her daughter Mia, a 17-year-old high school student with a passion for singing and a vibrant spirit, was also taken during this traumatic event. The ordeal was intensified by the uncertainty of their fate and the fate of their loved ones, with Gabriela’s partner, Norberto Louis Har, and her brother, Fernando Marman, remaining in captivity.
Their release on November 28, as part of a temporary ceasefire deal, brought a mixture of relief and ongoing concern. Gabriela's statement on Israel's Reshet Bet Radio encapsulated the mixed emotions following their release and the subsequent rescue operation which freed her partner and brother, "Since my release, I've felt incomplete; yesterday's operation restored our sense of security."
