Sivan Shaarbany
Age 21

Sivan Shaarbany, aged 21 and hailing from Ramat Gan, was murdered by Hamas terrorists at the Nova music festival on October 7. She was in attendance with her friend Rotem Levy, who also lost her life that day. Sivan was laid to rest on October 16 in Petah Tikva, leaving behind grieving parents, Karen and Effi, and a younger brother. In a departure from tradition, mourners were asked not to wear black attire, reflecting Sivan's colorful and joyous personality.
Known for her affection for salt and pepper, which she dubbed "joy" and "happiness," Sivan incorporated them into all her meals and carried mini shakers wherever she went. As a tribute, some friends and family members opted for salt and pepper shaker tattoos.
Sivan served with dedication in the Israeli Navy as an observation soldier near the Lebanon border until her release in December 2022. She then embarked on an extensive journey through South America before returning home shortly before her tragic demise.
Friend Maayan Dee fondly remembered via an instagram post “Sivan was the happiest person I met, she never passed up an opportunity and always caused those around her to smile.” Recalling making empanadas with her in Argentina during their travels, Dee said Sivan was “frustrated that they weren’t as pretty as she expected, but they were the tastiest empanadas of the whole trip. We were waiting to meet up in Israel and make tons of empanadas for friends, and I can’t believe it won’t happen with her next to me.”
