Sagiv Ben-Zvi

Age 24

Sagiv was murdered along with his best friend, Roni Petrovski. According to his mother, Sagiv loved to travel and in fact both he and Roni had recently returned from a trip to South America.

He loved life and was devoted to his family. As the attack began and the country woke up, his mother was able to call and get ahold of her son. “I called him two more times that morning and he promised me he would come back,” she said. “I told him don’t be afraid, drive carefully but if you hear a siren, take shelter.” Unfortunately, her later attempts to contact her son were met with silence. It took the authorities over two weeks to identify Sagiv’s remains.

While being interviewed, Sagiv’s mother was asked where her strength to speak about this comes from. Her response was straightforward. “The strength comes from love. The love for my son, the love for my family, the love for my country and the love for my people,” she said. “All the evils of the world that have come to us right now, we have to stand and show that we are here, and we are not going anywhere.”
