Yoram Metzger
Age 80 when abducted

Yoram Metzger, 80, and his wife Tamar (Tami) Metzger, 78, were taken captive from their home in Kibbutz Nir Oz on October 7 during a Hamas terrorist attack that targeted their community.
The couple, who are parents of three and grandparents to seven, were in contact with their family members that morning, some of whom also resided in the kibbutz. At 8:50 a.m., the Metzgers sent their last message. Later, when family members were able to enter their house, there were no signs of struggle, but evidence indicated that the terrorists had ransacked their home.
Yoram Metzger, who had worked for decades in the Nirlat factory and more recently in the kibbutz garage, was known for his excellent cooking skills, sense of humor, love for history, and his appreciation for the wines produced by the Nir Oz winery.
Their daughter-in-law, Ayala Metzger, described the couple as elderly and in fragile health. Yoram had diabetes, and a previous hip fracture had left him with mobility issues. Tami's health also required ongoing medical care.
Fortunately Tami eventually was released in a temporary ceasefire deal, however, Yoram remains captive.
