Or Levy

Age 33 when abducted

Just as Or Levy, 33, and his wife Eynav Elkayam Levy, 32, arrived at the Nova festival, they were met with sirens warning of missile attacks. Rushing into a mobile bomb shelter with their car doors left open, they had no time to park properly. Or Levy last spoke to his mother, telling her that she wouldn't want to know what was happening, at 7:39 a.m. that morning.

Tragically, Eynav Elkayam Levy's family received notification of her murder on October 11, her body found and identified inside the shelter, and Or Levy's family was officially informed on October 15 that he had been taken hostage by an unknown group. Their 2-year-old son, Almog, has been left without his parents, and both sets of grandparents are now caring for him.

Or and Eynav Levy were inseparable and enjoyed many activities together. They kept a tent in their car for spontaneous road trips and recently had a family vacation in Thailand.

Or was described by his older brother, Michael Levy, as always smiling, happy, and exceptionally intelligent. He had a knack for fixing things and taught himself computer programming. Or was part of a successful startup, and he and Eynav had dreams of expanding their family.

Their last communication was through a series of text messages during the chaotic moments of the attack. Eynav messaged her mother to inform her of their arrival at the festival site shortly after dawn. Or then messaged his mother, saying they were heading back home as sirens wailed and rockets flew overhead. He called his mother at 7:39 a.m. to say they were hiding in a bomb shelter, and when asked how they were, he replied, "Mom, you don't want to know." Unfortunately, communication was cut off, and the family has had no contact with Or since.
