Omri Miran
Age 46 when abducted

Omri Miran, aged 46, was among the hostages taken captive by Hamas terrorists on October 7 from Kibbutz Nir Oz. He left behind his wife, Lishay Miran, aged 38, and their two young daughters, Roni (2 years old) and Alma (6 months old).
The family's ordeal began when the sirens went off in the early morning, alerting them to a potential threat near their home in Nir Oz. They took immediate action to protect their children, placing them in a safe room.
As the situation escalated, Omri and Lishay realized that a significant attack was underway. They both armed themselves with knives to defend their family within the safe room. Hamas militants eventually broke into their home, and a tense standoff ensued. The terrorists demanded that the family open the safe room door, threatening to harm a 16-year-old neighbor named Tomer if they didn't comply.
In a moment of desperation and fear, Omri and Lishay decided to open the door to protect their children and save Tomer. The militants then took the entire family to a neighboring household, where they joined another family in captivity. Tragically, the 18-year-old daughter of the neighboring family had been killed in their safe room.
Omri and the father from the neighboring family were taken away by the militants, leaving Lishay with her daughters. She had the chance to say a few final words to her husband, telling him she loved him and to return safely.
Eventually, after several harrowing hours, they were discovered by IDF soldiers at 5:30 p.m.
Omri is a dual Hungarian-Israeli national, and was a gardener and massage therapist at the kibbutz, and is described as an optimist who loves basketball,
Lishay learned in late November that Omri was still alive but had no information about his condition or well-being.
