Oded Lifshitz

Oded Lifshitz, an 83-year-old resident of Kibbutz Nir Oz, was taken captive by Hamas terrorists on October 7 during their invasion of the Gaza border communities. He was abducted along with his wife, Yocheved Lifshitz, 85. The couple's cell phone was located in Gaza shortly after their abduction. Their house was burned to the ground during the attack.

Yocheved Lifshitz was eventually released on November 24 as part of a temporary ceasefire deal, however Oded Lifshitz remains in captivity.

The Lifshitzs are longtime peace activists and played an active role in their community. Oded had a long career as a journalist, writing for Al-Hamishmar, and is a passionate advocate for human rights. Both he and his wife volunteered their time and resources in helping transport patients from Gaza to receive medical treatment in hospitals across Israel.
