Karina Ariev
Age 19 when abducted

Karina Ariev, aged 19, was taken captive by Hamas terrorists on the morning of October 7. Her parents recounted their last communication with her at 7 a.m. that day, during which she described the distressing situation of rockets and terrorists firing guns. She expressed her love for her family and encouraged them to continue with their lives. However, by 7:40 a.m., all communication with Karina was lost. The family later discovered a Hamas video on Telegram, where Karina and two other young women were seen lying in the back of a jeep surrounded by Arabic-speaking men. Karina's face was wounded and bleeding. A representative from the army confirmed that Karina was being held hostage by a terror group.
Karina Ariev, a surveillance soldier, was abducted from the Nahal Oz IDF Base. Her sister, Sasha Ariev, mentioned that in their last phone call, Karina seemed to be aware of the danger and advised her to carry on with life and take care of their parents if something happened to her. Described as a gentle and caring individual with a passion for psychology, Karina was studying the subject to help people. She was taken in her pajamas on the fateful morning, and the Hamas video portrayed the horrifying conditions they faced as captives, with the girls sitting against a concrete wall, their hands tied behind them, and expressions of shock and fear. Karina had aspirations of pursuing a career in makeup and beauty before her abduction by Hamas.
