Eitan Horn

Age 37 when abducted

Eitan Horn, 37, along with his older brother Yair Horn, was abducted from Yair's home in Kibbutz Nir Oz on October 7 by Hamas terrorists during a deadly attack on the kibbutz. This attack resulted in the killing or kidnapping of one in four of the kibbutz's residents.

The Horn family immigrated from Argentina years ago, and Eitan had traveled from his home in Kfar Saba to visit his older brother Yair, who was 45 years old, for the holiday weekend. When sirens indicating incoming rockets began sounding, their father, Itzik, messaged his two sons to check on their safety.

Eitan responded to his father's message, reassuring him by saying, "Did you forget that in Yair’s kibbutz the missiles always pass overhead?" Sadly, this would be the last communication the Horn family received from Eitan.

Itzik Horn, their father, realized the danger when he heard about the attack on nearby Kibbutz Nirim, as it indicated that Nir Oz would likely be targeted next due to its proximity. A friend from Nir Oz later confirmed that the brothers were together at the time of the Hamas incursion into the kibbutz.

Eitan Horn was known for his involvement in informal education, working with various youth movements, and serving as an emissary in Peru. He is also described as a devoted uncle, often taking his nephews to Hapoel Beersheba soccer games.
