Chaim Peri

Age 79 when abducted

Chaim Peri, 79, father of five and a grandfather of 13, is known as a film lecturer and activist. He was taken captive by Hamas terrorists from his home in Kibbutz Nir Oz on October 7, during a devastating assault on the community, with 73 civilians abducted from the kibbutz.

Peri's wife, Osnat, survived the attack. His family initially did not have confirmation of his status as a hostage until Yocheved Lifshitz, a neighbor who had been freed from Hamas captivity, informed the family that she had seen him alive and in good health.

It is crucial to note that Chaim Peri has a medical condition that requires life-saving heart medications, which adds urgency to his situation.

Chaim Peri was not the only family member affected by the tragic events on October 7. Another relative, Danny Darlington, 34, who was a photographer and a British citizen living in Berlin, was tragically murdered during the attack, along with his German friend, Carolin Bohl.

Chaim Peri is described as a peace activist who spent his free time driving Palestinian children to hospitals for treatment and using art as a means of protesting violence against Palestinians. His commitment to promoting peace and helping those in need highlights his dedication to humanitarian causes.

Chaim Peri was one of three elderly Israeli hostages featured in a propaganda video released by Hamas. The video, which was published by the terror group, included Peri and two other residents of Kibbutz Nir Oz, Amiram Cooper, 84, and Yoram Metzger, 80. In the video, Chaim Peri identifies himself and provides a glimpse of his situation as a hostage.
