Kibbutz Be'eri was created in 1946, and had 1200 members.

On October 7th, Hamas militants began entering the grounds just after 7am.  The kibbutz had a security team of 12 people, which defended against the attacking militants along with a number of residents.  Over the next hours, Hamas moved through the kibbutz, forcing their way into safe rooms; when they could not open a door, they set fire to the structure, shooting those that fled the flames.

108 civilian deaths have been confirmed from the attack on Be'eri.  29 others were abducted on October 7th.
